They’ll defend themselves. If they’re defeated and not taken prisoner, at some point, the NPC you assigned to the caravan will start waiting for you in a random citys tavern, you can go and pick them up; then, if you still want that character to trade, you’ll have to pay for the caravan again.8 Sept 2021
